Dunnottar Castle (Scottish Gaelic :Dùn Fhoithear, "fort on the shelving slope") is surrounded by steep cliffs looking over the North Sea. This medieval fortress is located about 2 miles south of Stonehaven, Scotland and is the subject of a long and often brutal history.
