Monotropa uniflora - This plant is also known as the ghost plant. It is not a fungus, as first suspected. It is a non-photosynthetic flowering plant. This little jewel was discovered one foggy morning in a wood near Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse on the southern tip of Acadia National Park. Even though it is only about 1 to 2 inches tall, its ghostly color caught the eye in the thick forest.
