Turbine Gears
Adams Mill
In 1845, John Adams utilized the waters from Wildcat Creek to run the two turbines that powered a larger mill. One turbine, manufactured in Logansport, Indiana, is completely submerged with a horizontal wheel driven by water pressure. The gear system to the right of the generator produces approximately 20-30 horsepower. Power was transferred from the second turbine to the corn buhr and dressers by gear pulleys and belts on the second and third floors.
