The old Indiana State Sanatorium, first opened in 1908, is an interesting site to explore. The grounds of the abandoned site include over 200 acres, located about 4 miles east of the town of Rockville. It served as a tuberculosis hospital until 1968. The facility was a self-sufficient community, including the ability to provide its own power with a coal fired steam engine electric turbines. Many mechanical parts still exist, including this large generator. I thought the entire scene would make an interesting study in B&W.
