Old Mill at Berry College, G10023
"Old Mill at Berry College"
Located on the Mountain Campus of Berry College, this unique overshot waterwheel helps create this picturesque setting near Rome, Georgia. The Old Mill was constructed by students in 1930 and is powered from water piped directly from Berry’s reservoir. The force of gravity is enough to push water up the stone column and over the enormous wheel, measured at 42 feet in diameter. On special occasions, the Old Mill will operate to produce corn meal as it once did for many years.
