Sub-Alpine Region of Pike's Peak, CO<br />

When one visits the majestic mountain of Pike's Peak, the basic two choices to get to the top is to drive the twisting road or take the tram. I prefer to drive which allows you the freedom to explore, particularly on the descent. This particular unknown species was found as we left the alpine region and entered the sub-alpine zone. The puffy flower, which resembles a huge dandelion, was about ready to allow the wind to carry it's seeds to another location so the fragile life on the mountain could continue.
