The Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park was completed in 1920 as a way to travel to the other side of the Continental Divide.  Later, the paved Trail Ridge Road became the primary way for people to drive up into the alpine tundra.  The narrow, one-way gravel river road is still a favorite way to slowly explore three different life zones with the Fall River nearby.
