This eye catching little specimen is cursed. It has to have the worst name possible for something so interesting. It has fabulous textures and a brilliant color. It also has an interesting story. I found this early one morning while hiking out to the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. Later that day, when I returned to see the lighthouse, the specimen was gone! It "slimed" away. What kind of critter is this? Is it more like a plant or animal? By reading some of the immense amount of information about it on the internet, one can conclude that this is truly one strange living thing that does deserve a better name.
